Venus: McGeady could be sold

18 January 2010 11:31
Manager Tony Mowbray last week told McGeady's suitors they would be wasting their time even picking up the phone to enquire about the winger's availability.[LNB]That was amid reports Birmingham boss Alex McLeish - who recent did just that - was preparing an £8million bid for Celtic's star player.[LNB]Mowbray's assistant Venus does not want to lose McGeady but acknowledged the size of any offer would ultimately determine whether he stayed at Parkhead.[LNB]"Everyone undoubtedly knows that he's a very, very good player," Venus said.[LNB]"I thoroughly enjoy working with him every day in training.[LNB]"His appetite for the game and his desire for training and football is fantastic and I don't personally believe he's the type of player that we want to lose.[LNB]"But every footballer has a price, I would suggest at any football club.[LNB]"So it would be folly of me to sit here and say to you that there's no way Aiden McGeady's leaving.[LNB]"But I would suggest it would probably take a lot of money."[LNB]Venus claimed to know nothing about reports linking Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos with a loan move to Celtic.[LNB]The out-of-favour Senderos has expressed a desire to quit the Emirates Stadium.[LNB]Venus said: "It's a name that gets bandied around always.[LNB]"In this month especially, there are more and more names put in the papers every day.[LNB]"Even I look forward to coming in and reading them to see who we're going to sign!"[LNB]He added of Celtic's reported interest in Senderos: "I don't know whether there is or isn't."[LNB][LNB] Scottish Cup.
