Three game ban for Bowyer

Lee Bowyer has been handed a three game suspension for his challenge on Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna. Television replays highlighted Bowyer stamping on the knee of Sagna as he lay on the ground during Saturday's clash at St Andrew's. In a separate incident Bowyer was also shown to apparently catch Sagna down the back of his Achilles near the touch-line. Referee Peter Walton took no action at the time. However, Walton confirmed that had he seen what had occurred then he would of shown Bowyer a straight red card. The Blues midfielder will now miss the trip to Blackpool this evening, the FA Cup 3rd round game at Millwall on Saturday and next Tuesday's Carling Cup semi-final first leg against West Ham at Upton Park.
