Taylor appeal thrown out by FA

The experienced Blues number one saw red midway through the first half of Saturday's 1-1 draw against Plymouth when he upended Jamie Mackie for the penalty that handed the visitors the lead. Television replays proved the incident occurred outside the area, while Taylor also insisted he managed to touch the ball. However, a regulatory commission examined the evidence provided and failed to identify a serious error of judgement by referee Michael Oliver. Taylor will now miss one match - the encounter at Vicarage Road - having been shown red for denying a goalscoring opportunity, with Colin Doyle prepared to take his place between the sticks.
