The 36-year-old has started just once - against Stoke - and had a total of 92 minutes of playing time but he accepts he is behind the likes of summer signing Christian Benitez, James McFadden. "It's gone the way I thought it would," said Phillips. "I've started one game and been on the bench for the rest. It's always frustrating to be sitting on the bench but I knew that was going to happen this year." Phillips, who played for the reserves in their 1-1 draw against Fulham on Monday night, added: "I can't see it changing from now until the end of the season. It's up to me that when I get my chance I try to help the team win games. "That is why the manager has put me on the bench, to come on to make and impact and score late goals. "If I do come on then, I'll be trying my hardest."
