Sebastian Larsson is concentrating on regaining his first-team spot at Birmingham even though his long-term future is still to be finalised.[LNB] Larsson is yet to resolve his contract situation although Blues have taken up the 12-month option on his current deal.[LNB]The likes of Liam Ridgewell, Maik Taylor, Kevin Phillips, Stuart Parnaby, Keith Fahey, Barry Ferguson and Garry O'Connor have all signed new deals this summer and skipper Stephen Carr is also close to putting pen to paper.[LNB]Talks over former Arsenal player Larsson's new contract broke down before Blues set off on their current pre-season trip to China, which will end on Wednesday.[LNB]But the Sweden international is more concerned about becoming part of Alex McLeish's starting XI after losing his place to Craig Gardner at the end of last season.[LNB]Larsson told the Birmingham Mail: "I'm a Birmingham player. I'm contracted to Birmingham and I want to play. I always give everything when I do. That's all there is to say.[LNB]"The competition is fierce. You look at the midfield now and there are so many options available to the manager.[LNB]"Michel and Craig Gardner have done very well in the games so far. They came here in January, have had six months to settle, and we can see how desperate they are to impress and get in the team. They are both very good footballers.[LNB]"We knew Michel was very good with the ball and now he is becoming more confident and expressing himself because he knows what to expect in the Premier League and what the manager wants.[LNB]"They're both like me in wanting to play. I just want to play. I will continue to work hard and hope the manager will pick me. But the competition is high."
