iam Ridgewell insists survival will be Birmingham's main goal for next season despite finishing in the top 10 of the Premier League last term.[LNB] Ridgewell has signed a new three-year contract with the Midlands club after impressing during his first season at left-back, having previously operated chiefly as a central defender.[LNB]Ridgewell is hoping Alex McLeish's side can build on the success achieved during their first season back in the top flight.[LNB]But he is aware that making sure City stay amongst the elite is of prime concern.[LNB]He said: "I was pleased to sign on the dotted line and get the contract done and dusted.[LNB]"The ninth-placed finish came into play (when signing) and I want to be at a successful club and this club is driving on.[LNB]"But survival will be the main thing next season.[LNB]"After doing so well last season people will be wondering how we are going to do - but our aim is to stay in this league and hopefully push on from that ninth place."[LNB]Ridgewell has been impressed with the capture of keeper Ben Foster from Manchester United and Serbia striker Nikola Zigic for £6million apiece.[LNB]He said: "There have been some good signings. Ben is a world class keeper and coming from Manchester United he is a good acquisition for us.[LNB]"Filling in Joe's (Hart) boots will be hard for anyone in the world. Ben will come in well and get into the running of things. I think he will be brilliant for us.[LNB]"The big man coming in up front (Zigic) gives us something different in that department."
