Ridgewell extends Birmingham stay

Birmingham City defender Liam Ridgewell has signed a new three-year contract.The 25-year-old, who joined Blues from local rivals Aston Villa in August 2007, now has a contract that runs until 2013. [LNB]He is the second player to sign a new deal at St Andrew's this summer, with goalkeeper Maik Taylor signing a fresh one-year contract in May. [LNB]Last season he scored vital goals for Alex McLeish's side as they secured ninth place in the Premier League. [LNB]Ridgewell has made a total of 113 appearances for Birmingham, scoring seven goals.
