Rested Barry Ferguson earns Birmingham recall for Midlands derby with Wolves

Back for Brum: Ferguson returns to Birmingham side to face Wolves [LNB]Alex McLeish will recall Birmingham midfielder Barry Ferguson for the home weekend clash with Wolves after leaving him out of the drubbing at Liverpool to recharge his batteries. [LNB]The former Scottish international hasbeen a virtual ever present this season despite suffering a broken rib during the Carling Cup final win over Arsenal in February. [LNB]Ferguson has taken injections to defythat setback, but McLeish felt the time was right at Anfield to rest the ex-Rangers player. [LNB]'The guy (Ferguson) has gone through torture for us,' the Blues manager said. [LNB]'He has taken injections in his ribs. He's played for four weeks without any real training. [LNB]'We had three hard games in a week and I rested Lee Bowyer in midweek at Chelsea and Ferguson on Saturday.[LNB]'I wanted to try and keep him fresh for next week's game with Wolves. He will be bursting to go again at the weekend. [LNB]'Ferguson has been magnificent for us in his two years here and I am sure he will benefit from the rest.' [LNB]McLeish is keeping his fingers crossed goalkeeper Ben Foster will be fit to face Mick McCarthy's side. He had to be substituted against Liverpool suffering from thigh and backinjuries.[LNB] McLeish said: 'It would be a blow to lose Ben but hopefully the physios, doctor and medical team can get him back.
