PSV departure for Koevermans

irmingham have missed out on signing Danny Koevermans after the striker departed PSV and snubbed a move to Blues for MLS side Toronto FC. [LNB] The 32-year-old, whose PSV deal expired this summer, had been heavily linked with a move to St Andrew's after stating his desire for a foreign adventure. [LNB]However, the departure of manager Alex McLeish was understood to have given Koevermans second thoughts over the English switch. [LNB]And the Dutchman, capped four times for Holland, has now penned a two-year deal with Toronto. [LNB]He told Sportpromotion: "I am very happy with this transfer. It was really great how the club welcomed me. [LNB]"I hope I can have a major contribution to the club this season." [LNB]The move marks Koevermans' first stint with a foreign club having previously spent time at Sparta Rotterdam and AZ Alkmaar before joining PSV in 2007. [LNB]Dutchman and former Ajax, Lazio and Inter Milan midfielder Aron Winter is technical director at the Canadian club.
