The Standard Liege stopper, who spent time on loan at Newcastle in 2007, is available on a Bosman free transfer this summer. Onyewu - who has also been linked with several clubs in Spain - is keen to return to the Premier League and is understood to have met with several sides. It is understood that he spoke with Wolves last week and is due to meet with Birmingham City as the two newly-promoted sides look to bolster their defensive options. It remains to be seen if either will make a move, with Fulham also said to be showing an interest. Onyewu himself admits he is ready to take a chance and leave Standard. "I'm ready to take that risk," he admitted. "It would not be the first time. When I arrived at Standard, I was third choice. Even at La Louviere (in 2003), I was not in the team."
