No Euro vision for Hughton

Europe will not be high on the agenda for Birmingham in a season when Chris Hughton focuses on returning the club to the Premier League.[LNB] Hughton was unveiled as successor to Alex McLeish at St Andrew's on Monday afternoon after signing a rolling contract in the Midlands.[LNB]The former Newcastle boss has already admitted that immediate promotion from the Championship after last season's relegation is a priority.[LNB]And Hughton is adamant that even a Europa League campaign, which will follow their Carling Cup success in February, will be a secondary concern. [LNB]"I don't think I'd be speaking too out of place if I was to say, for me, that is not the biggest priority," said the 52-year-old when asked about continental targets.[LNB]"It's something which is very welcome and it gives players an opportunity to play at European level. But I don't think it would be wrong of me to say that it isn't the most important priority for me.[LNB]"The most important one is to get this group of lads together and give this Championship a real good go."[LNB]He added: "Our approach will be to do as well as we can in the competition (Europa League). It is a different stage and does open players to a different audience, that audience becomes bigger the further you go in the competition. Anything which promotes this club is a plus."[LNB]Hughton certainly has experience of taking the Championship by storm, racking up 102 points with Newcastle to walk away with the title in 2010. [LNB]He then guided the St James' Park club to mid-table in the Premier League before, in the eyes of most, being harshly sacked last December.
