The young Blues midfielder was dismissed for an alleged elbow on Coventry striker Alex Nimely in the dying seconds of the 1-1 draw at the Ricoh Arena on Saturday and will therefore have to serve a three game suspension.
Mutch will miss Blues' away game at Leicester on Tuesday night plus the two home games against Middlesbrough and Cardiff City.
"I've no complaints about the sending off," Blues boss Chris Hughton said after Saturday's local derby.
"There was nothing malicious, but when you lead with your arm you leave yourself open to being sent off."
