McLeish will stand firm on final selection

Alex McLeish insists he will be single-minded and not influenced by the thoughts of his Birmingham players or the media when picking his side for the Carling Cup final against Arsenal. McLeish knows there will be some disappointed members of his squad who miss out on the starting XI - or even a place on the bench - at Wembley. The former Rangers boss said: "It is a tough decision for me now to pick a team for the final. I am sure there will be guys left out of the XI who will be disappointed. "But they've got to spare a thought for the guys who are completely left out and guys who are injured like James McFadden and Scott Dann. "That is a tough decision that has got to be made but that's part of my job. "I'll always pick the team for the bigger picture, never on the back of media influence or individual players' thoughts on whether they should be playing or not."
