McLeish to assess talent at World Cup

irmingham boss Alex McLeish is heading to the World Cup in South Africa in search of players that can strengthen his squad. McLeish, who has been promised funds over the summer, is plotting to improve on Blues' ninth-placed finish of last term and he is hoping to identify some transfer targets as the world's best players grace the elite stage over the next month. But McLeish is going into his scouting mission with his eyes open. "I have simply got to do business to make the team better," he told the Birmingham Mail. "I think the World Cup is difficult to pick players because players can peak for four or five games and I have seen clubs signing them, and then they become failures. "It's not ideal unless you are picking the very top players."
