Birmingham boss Alex McLeish has tipped centre-half Roger Johnson for an England call-up after the defender produced another impressive display in City's 1-1 draw with Fulham at Craven Cottage.
The Blues looked to be on their way to a first away win since last season when Sebastian Larsson put them ahead in the 19th minute. But Clint Dempsey secured a point for the home side in the 53rd minute when he headed home at the far post.
However Johnson's display alongside Scott Dann at the heart of the City defence won him more plaudits from McLeish, and he said: "Scott is younger and will be under the spotlight for the next couple of years.
"Roger has played down the divisions for a few years and is now 27, and he doesn't want it to pass him by.
"He is desperate to play for England and when you look at some of the other players who have been touted, I think Roger is definitely capable of being named in that bunch of players and easily capable of playing, even if Fabio Capello gives him just one.
"He will be able to say he played for England and you could never take that away from him."
