McLeish Confirms Boyd Interest

Alex McLeish has admitted that he will be trying to sign Rangers' stiker Kris Boyd in the summer. The Blues boss is a known admirer of the Scotland international and he thinks that Boyd, who will be out of contract at Ibrox in the summer, could prove to be as prolific in the Premier League as he has been in the SPL. "He is a goalscorer. You would need to get the service to him. He thrives on the right kind of service," McLeish has told SportTimes columnist Peter Martin. “We will make an attempt to get him. I know he will have other suitors although, in the end, it will come down to finance. "I would suspect Boyd would fancy a crack at the Premier League.” McLeish has also been linked with a close-season move for Celtic winger Aiden McGeady but he refused to comment on whether that was the case or not. “It is not right for me to talk about players who are still in contract,” he said. “I can talk about Kris Boyd because he is out of contract and we asked Rangers, through a courtesy measure, if we could speak to him, but it is not right that I speak about a Celtic player who is still there and has a contract. It can sometimes look like tapping up".
