Former Rangers boss Alex McLeish has admitted his desire to challenge Kris Boyd and Aiden McGeady to prove themselves in the English Premier League.[LNB]The Birmingham manager revealed that he will definitely be making an offer to the out-of-contract Ibrox goalscoring hero, whose hopes of landing a new deal in Govan remain up in the air while takeover talk continues.[LNB]And, while he refused to confirm whether or not McGeady will definitely feature on his shopping list, McLeish believes the Celtic winger may be open to temptation for a switch down south.[LNB] Heading south? McGeady and Boyd[LNB]The former Scotland manager said: 'They are unproven in the Premiership, so I guess Aiden and Kris would ask themselves whether or not they want to prove themselves here.[LNB]'He has got great potential, Aiden, to play in this league. He has played all his football in the Scottish league and people will say that he has not been tested. But you can argue that the Champions League games he has had, where he has not exactly let himself down against huge teams and in places like Milan, says a lot.' [LNB]Eager enough to flag up his interest in McGeady, while insisting that 'it's not right for me to talk about players who are still in contract', McLeish revealed he has already paid Rangers the courtesy of informing them of his desire to land free agent Boyd.[LNB]Asked if he could score goals in the Premiership, the man who signed Boyd for Rangers said: 'I don't see why not. He is a goalscorer. [LNB]'You would need to get the service to him. He thrives on the right kind of service.[LNB]'We will make an attempt to get him. I know he will have other suitors although, in the end, it will come down to finance.'[LNB] David Weir is poised to make Rangers history as club's oldest-ever playerEXCLUSIVE: Remember me?
