irmingham forward James McFadden is hoping to hold talks with Alex McLeish regarding a new long-term contract with the St Andrew's club.[LNB] The Scotland international joined Blues from Everton in January 2008 and currently has 12 months remaining on his deal with the Midlanders.[LNB]There is an option for a further two years, but the winger wants to ensure he is tied to McLeish's side for many years to come.[LNB]"With the weird and wonderful way the contracts are done, I have a year left with a two-year option," said McFadden, who turns 27 next week, in the Daily Record. "That was the way it was done before, but hopefully that can change and there won't be this confusion for everyone."[LNB]McFadden has also echoed the view of several of his team-mates by targeting a top-10 finish for Birmingham following an impressive first year back in the Premier League.[LNB]He said: "You set your stall out to be the team above the relegation zone, but this time we've surpassed all expectations.[LNB]"However, we want to go higher and regardless of how you do, you can always improve.[LNB]"It has been a fantastic season for us. We've really pulled together and have a bit of a mean streak about us. The performance level, application and attitude has been there even when we've had a bit of a bad run recently.[LNB]"We've avoided relegation and now we want to take it to the next level and see how high we can go."
