Latics boss likes look of Tamudo
The 31-year-old Espanyol legend has played over 300 games for the Barcelona outfit, scoring 129 goals in the process.
But Tamudo is keen to try his luck abroad before his career ends and England appears to be his favoured destination.
A number of clubs including Sunderland, Wolves and Birmingham have been linked in recent weeks.
But recently-appointed Latics gaffer Martinez is understood to be very keen on the experienced Tamudo.
He would cost around £2million and Martinez is now looking to open talks about luring the Spanish international to the JJB Stadium.
