Larsson focused on starting role

Sebastian Larsson is concentrating solely on regaining his first team spot at Birmingham even though his long-term future is still to be finalised at St Andrew's. Larsson is yet to resolve his contract situation although Blues have taken up the 12-month option on his current deal. Talks over former Arsenal player Larsson's new contract broke down before Blues set off on their current pre-season trip to China, which will end on Wednesday. But the Sweden international is more concerned about becoming part of Alex McLeish's starting XI after losing his place to Craig Gardner at the end of last season. Larsson told the Birmingham Mail: "I'm a Birmingham player. I'm contracted to Birmingham and I want to play. I always give everything when I do. That's all there is to stay. "The competition is fierce. You look at the midfield now and there are so many options available to the manager."
