In the first of a new series Birmingham manager Alex McLeish lets us in on the details of what takes up his Sky Plus space, why he felt guilty about buying a flash car and the time he had a chance meeting with a Beatle in the gents.[LNB] Thanks boss: McLeish credits Sir Alex Ferguson for the best advice ever gave to him[LNB]WHO IS YOUR SPORTING HERO?Muhammad Ali was entertaining and charismatic. He was box-office. I'm a big tennis fan too: I loved the way Bjorn Borg carried himself . But Ali is No 1.[LNB]WHAT WOULD YOU BE IF YOU WEREN'T A SPORTSMAN?I was asked to go for an interview as an apprentice technician at Rolls-Royce, the day before Aberdeen offered me a professional contract, so working for that company in some capacity would be the logical answer.[LNB]CAREER HIGHLIGHT?Winning the European Cup Winners' Cup with a small provincial team, full of Scots as I did with Aberdeen in 1983, beating Real Madrid 2-1.[LNB]IF YOUR HOUSE WAS BURNING DOWN, APART FROM FAMILY AND PETS, WHAT ONE POSSESSION WOULD YOU SAVE?My Sky remote control! Just because of the amount of football I've got on it. I'm down to two per cent memory with Italian, German, Dutch, MOTD1, MOTD2, the Football League Show stacked up.[LNB]IN A FILM OF YOUR LIFE, WHO WOULD PLAY YOU?McLeish Mk II? The Birmingham manager would want David Caruso to play him in a film on his life[LNB]David Caruso (CSI Miami).[LNB]WHAT'S THE BEST ADVICE YOU'VE EVER BEEN GIVEN?I told Sir Alex Ferguson I was thinking of getting married and he replied: 'Yes, do it.' He said that he liked to see young players get married. Thirty years later, I still am, to my rock, Jill. Good advice, eh?[LNB]FAVOURITE KARAOKE SONG?Mr Bojangles, the Sammy Davis Jnr version. Have I sung it myself? Oh, yes![LNB]THREE TUNES ON YOUR iPOD?If it sounds good, I'll get my kids to put them on. My favourites are 'All the King's men' by The Wild Beasts, 'Meet me halfway,' by the Black Eyed Peas and the last one is a toss-up between Biffy Clyro, 'the Captain,' or some Electric Light Orchestra that I'm just re-discovering.[LNB]LAST MOVIE YOU SAW?A tear jerker. Toy Story 3. I could feel myself welling up.[LNB]FAVOURITE PRE-MATCH MEAL?Poached eggs. Just poached eggs, toastfree. I like the yolks hard. Hard-poached eggs, little bit of salt. Job done.[LNB]WHAT'S THE MOST EXPENSIVE TREAT YOU'VE EVER BOUGHT?An Aston Martin, but I felt so guilty about owning it. I'd had it about a year and done about 1,500 miles in it, but it was actually a time when results were not good at Rangers.[LNB]I opened the garage on a day off, I was going up to Gleneagles with Jill and, after reversing out, she just said to me: 'You don't want this, do you?' So, it went.[LNB]TELL US A SECRET...I met Paul McCartney in the toilets while filming 'Top of the Pops'. It was prior to the 1982 World Cup when the Scotland team had a hit record: 'We have a dream,' which got to No 5.[LNB]We weren't the only team there. Spurs were also in the studio that night, doing 'Ossie's on his way to Wembley,' with Chas and Dave! Bananarama and the Funboy Three were there too singing: 'T'ain't what you do.' If you look closely at the video we are in the background, waving tartan scarves. [LNB]Alex McLeish was speaking on behalf of McMillan Cancer Support.[LNB] Have faith! Alex McLeish urges Birmingham fans to be patient despite slow start to the season ALL BIRMINGHAM CITY FC
