Several Blues players were on international duty for their respective countries on Wednesday night. Midfielder Sebastian Larsson was named in the starting XI for Sweden's international friendly against Wales in Swansea. Larsson played the full 90 minutes for the visiting nation who won 1-0 at The Liberty Stadium courtesy of a Johan Elamander goal one minute before the half time interval. Maik Taylor was also named in the starting XI for Northern Ireland's international friendly match in Albania. The Blues goalkeeper played the first 72 minutes for Nigel Worthington's side who lost 1-0 to the hosts at the Qemal Stafa Stadium. On loan from Sunderland midfielder Teemu Tainio played the whole of the second half in Finland's 2-1 away win against Malta in their international friendly match at the Ta'Qali National Stadium. Joe Hart was named amongst the England substitutes for their international friendly against Egypt. The on-loan from Manchester City goalkeeper played no part in England's win at Wembley Stadium. Mohamed Zidan had given the Egyptians a 23rd minute lead but a second half brace by Tottenham striker Peter Crouch plus one from Man City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips sealed a 3-1 victory for Fabio Capello's side.
