Gold welcome back at Blues

Birmingham have said former chairman David Gold will be a "welcome visitor" when his new side West Ham visit St Andrew's in January. Gold, who took over at Upton Park alongside David Sullivan at the start of the year, had been advised against attending a league match at his old stamping ground in November for safety reasons. But the sides are now due to meet again in the Carling Cup semi-finals and Blues have formally extended the hand of friendship to Gold. Acting Birmingham chairman Peter Pannu added: "Birmingham City would like to take this opportunity to confirm David Gold is welcome at the stadium and the Blues' board look forward to seeing him, and of course David Sullivan and all members of the West Ham Board, at the game."
