Ferguson to return for Wolves clash

Alex McLeish will recall Birmingham midfielder Barry Ferguson for the home weekend clash with Wolves after leaving him out of the drubbing at Liverpool to recharge his batteries. The former Scottish international has been a virtual ever present this season despite suffering a broken rib during the Carling Cup final win over Arsenal in February. Ferguson has taken injections to defy that setback, but McLeish felt the time was right at Anfield to rest the ex-Rangers player. "The guy (Ferguson) has gone through torture for us," the Blues manager said. "He has taken injections in his ribs. He's played for four weeks without any real training. "We had three hard games in a week and I rested Lee Bowyer in midweek at Chelsea and Ferguson on Saturday. "I wanted to try and keep him fresh for next week's game with Wolves. He will be bursting to go again at the weekend. Ferguson has been magnificent for us in his two years here and I am sure he will benefit from the rest."
