Ferguson savours derby win

Barry Ferguson believes Birmingham are closing the gap on Aston Villa after they beat their neighbours 2-1 to reach the Carling Cup semi-final. Sebastian Larsson put Blues ahead from the penalty spot after Richard Dunne fouled Lee Bowyer before Gabriel Agbonlahor levelled just after the hosts had a goal disallowed. Nikola Zigic's late goal then gave the hosts victory at St Andrew's to send them through to the last four, where they will now face West Ham in a two-legged semi-final. Ferguson told Sky Sports 1: "It's a great feeling, it's been a long time coming. I am just delighted to be in the semi- final. "Villa came out well in the second half. The guys never lie down. I was always confident." Of the gap narrowing between the two teams, Ferguson added: "We'd like to think so. I can see us starting to close the gap on Villa."
