Coyle takes inspiration from Blues

Birmingham's Carling Cup triumph has "blown out of the water" the theory that trophies are the preserve of only the biggest clubs these days, according to Bolton manager Owen Coyle. The Scot will be doing his best to ensure Alex McLeish's side do not book a return trip to Wembley on Saturday when Birmingham host the Trotters in the FA Cup quarter-finals at St Andrew's. The match comes two weeks after Blues' surprise 2-1 victory over Arsenal, which ended their near 50-year wait for a major trophy and booked a Europa League spot. Coyle said: "I think it sent a message not only to the clubs left in the FA Cup but everybody in football. Although we know the smaller clubs can get to finals, the perception is the elite clubs will still win on that day. "Birmingham have blown that out of the water and it's given everybody real belief that, if those occasions come about, they can go and win some silverware. "We're all in the game to try and be successful and I think that's a terrific boost for everybody."
