Cobblers hold Birmingham

Liam Davis headed a late equaliser for Northampton as the npower League Two side shared a 2-2 friendly draw with Premier League Birmingham. Billy McKay opened the scoring for the Cobblers in the first half after dispossessing young Blues defender Fraser Kerr and finishing coolly beyond Maik Taylor. Five minutes after the break Cameron Jerome fired home from 25 yards to equalise for the visitors and they took the lead when veteran striker Kevin Phillips laid off a Liam Ridgewell long ball for James McFadden to apply the finish. But with five minutes remaining Davis got on the end of a cross from substitute Michael Jacobs to ensure honours finished even.
