EXCLUSIVEFormer Birmingham flop Christian Benitez is heading back to British football after his Mexican club Santos Laguna thrashed out a deal with Celtic.
The 24-year old showed flashes of brilliance, after joining Birmingham on a season-long loan 18 months ago, but was allowed to return to Santos after scoring just three times in 30 appearances.
He signed a new contract with the Primera Division club and has captured the attention of Parkhead scouts, with his form so far this season.

A 16-goal haul has made him one of the Mexican League's outstanding performers and led to Celtic officials opening talks over a move back to Britain.
Sportsmail understands an agreement has now been reached and that the £5million-rated Ecuador forward will be arriving in Glasgow either initially on loan, or more likely at the end of the season.
Benitez has an enviable scoring record of a goal every other game for Santos Laguna and Ecuador and is eager to prove himself in British football, at the second attempt.
