Pledge to stay: Cameron Jerome happy at Birmingham

Birmingham striker Cameron Jerome has pledged his future to theCarling Cup finalists and said he will only leave if told he is notwanted.

Jerome has been linked with a move to Stoke during the current transfer window.

But the former England Under-21 international is happy at Blues ashe prepares to welcome a new strike partner in Obafemi Martins, whoseloan move from Rubin Kazan should be completed tomorrow.

Jerome said: 'There has been speculation in the papers about me but no-one has come to me and said you are going anywhere.

'I'm quite happy here, I'm playing every week, I am learning my trade here under a great manager.

'I've been here five years. I'm Birmingham through and through at the moment.

'Until I'm told here I'm not wanted, I'm happy to do the job I do every week.'

Martins will provide competition for Jerome, Nikola Zigic and MattDerbyshire for the rest of the season should he pass a medical.

Meanwhile, City newcomer Curtis Davies believes he can win over the Blues fans after his ?3.5 million move from Aston Villa.

The central defender feels the transfers of Liam Ridgewell and CraigGardner from Villa to City will make life easier for Davies.

He said: 'I think there is a little less pressure on me in respect of the rivalry. Liam Ridgewell and Craig Gardner have come from Villa to Blues direct.

'Also the thing with me is I haven't been playing for Villa for a year and a half so I don't think it's harsh for the Villa fans to take.

'It's not as if I've been playing week in and week out and jumped ship to come across the road.

'The main thing is that I wasn't playing football. I needed that and this is a good footballing decision.'

Davies added: 'Blues is a good club and in a way I've been fortunate in not playing in any of the derby matches so I don't think Blues fans should hate me that much for being an ex-Villa player.

'It's a club trying to get back to where we were last year, ninth, and with the squad we've got, and hopefully with the additions the manager can add, we can push back up to that position.'
