C Palace 0 Birmingham 0: Warnock fumes at referee as his 10 men hang on

The 10 men of Palace frustrated Birmingham's attempt to close the gap on leaders Wolves to a point but still left manager Neil Warnock spitting fire. [LNB]Though Nick Carle got a straight red for a two-footed challenge on Cameron Jerome after 75 minutes, Palace felt they could have won. [LNB]Referee Paul Taylor denied them a penalty just before half-time, which was a staggering decision. [LNB]Ref rage: Palace boss Neil Warnock was unhappy with referee Paul Taylor for two costly decisons [LNB] Palace boss Warnock snapped: 'On the video, it was a penalty but we have to send these things on and ask for the assessor's opinion. It's a pity it's not done at the moment it happens. [LNB]'Only the referee knows why he didn't give a penalty. And we didn't think it was a sending-off as Carle clearly touched the ball. But I thought it was consistent with his (Taylor's) performance.' [LNB]Birmingham boss Alex McLeish argued: 'I thought it was a foul on Fahey first. We had enough chances to have won two or three games and that is definitely two points dropped.' [LNB]Warnock had seen Victor Moses give Stephen Carr a nightmare opening - only for the Palace teenager to be carried off on a stretcher with hamstring trouble on 54 minutes. [LNB]Birmingham recovered from their shaky start and Marcus Bent missed a glorious chance, heading wide. And Carlos Costly lived up to his name on 50 minutes when he wastefully scuffed the ball wide when clear on goal.[LNB] Split decison: Birmingham striker Cameron Jerome picks his pass to beat the advancing Nathaniel Clyne (R)[LNB] [LNB]It was easily Palace's lowest gate of the season - 12,847 - but the missing thousands missed out on a plucky performance from their team against a Birmingham side that are still not a convincing second-placed outfit and could still easily be edged out of an automatic promotion spot. [LNB]Palace nearly clinched a winner themselves on 80 minutes after a mistake by Birmingham central defender Radhi Jaidi that allowed substitute Lee Hills to break on goal.[LNB]But unfortunately his pass to striker Alan Lee wasn't returned and Birmingham scrambled the ball clear.[LNB] Football League live: How Tuesday's action unfolded[LNB]THE LIST: Sportsmail's 30-21 of football's biggest traitors [LNB] [LNB] [LNB]
