irmingham are belived to have made an enquiry about Newcastle striker Nile Ranger after losing three strikers to injury.

Chris Hughton is searching for striking options after seeing Nikola Zigic, Marlon King and Cameron Jerome sidelined through injury.

Hughton is thought to be a big fan of Ranger having given the player his debut during his time in charge of Newcastle.

Ranger's future at Newcastle is up in the air with the Magpies thought to be willing to offload the 20-year-old this summer.

A number of clubs are thought to be chasing Ranger with Blackpool making a bid for the former Southampton youngster last month, but the move failed to materialise.

Birmingham are believed to have enquired about taking Ranger on loan, but it remains to be seen if Newcastle would be willing to accept this as they would prefer to sell the tall forward.
