Blues lay new pitch at St Andrew's
Birmingham, who claimed the second automatic promotion spot from the Championship with a 2-1 win at Reading on the final day of the regular season, plan to have the work complete by the start of the 2009/2010 Premier League season in August.
Manager Alex McLeish said: "There is no doubt the pitch needed to improve. It's part of the infrastructure so this is great investment by the club."
