Blues boss concerned by injuries

Seven senior Blues players are currently sidelined with striker Garry O'Connor only recently returning to action. Blues have had to combat a high number of injuries this season, and in fact over recent years, and McLeish is puzzled at which way to turn next. "We're tearing our hair out, we're looking at the reasons why," said the Blues boss. "It's amazing, it's ludicrous that we should get so many injuries. It's not one particular reason. "We know that with the intensity of this league you need to be really lucky not to get injuries. We look at the training, are we doing too much shooting? Sometimes you feel you're not doing enough of it and then when you do, someone pulls a muscle. "It's really difficult for us now deciding whether we wrap them in cotton wool or whether we train to a real intensity. The training ground itself, the bad weather - they're all factors, it's not just one reason. "I know when Graeme Souness was at Newcastle he took his players to the Academy ground because he felt that the pitches they were training on were far too hard and they were getting too many muscle injuries. And I think from then on in it worked better for them."
