Blues boss closes in on Bowyer

Bowyer spent a fruitful loan spell in the Midlands during the second half of last season and the Blues are close to agreeing a deal which will enable him to make the move from Upton Park on a free transfer. Manager Alex McLeish has made it clear that he wants to keep the experienced Bowyer as part of his plans providing his wage demands were not excessive. The former Scotland boss said: "Lee did well for us after coming here and he would definitely be a worthy addition to the Birmingham squad." Prem 2009/10 To Stay Up Win Outright: Birmingham 10/11
