Blues bonanza! Birmingham boss Alex McLeish targets 'six to seven' new signings in summer shake-up
Alex McLeish is looking to bring in six or seven players when he revamps his Birmingham squad this summer. [LNB]And the Blues boss admits his side's achievement in guaranteeing their Barclays Premier League survival with two months to spare means they can press ahead with plans to bring in potential targets. [LNB] McLeish is determined to prove City are not a one-season wonder and wants them to become an established top-flight club. [LNB] On his way? Wigan's Charles N'Zogbia is one player heavily linked with a move[LNB]He said: 'We should be able to steal a march in terms of getting some new staff in. [LNB]'We certainly wouldn't be able to do this if we were scrapping away at the bottom of the league and not knowing what division we were going to be in next season. He said: 'We are trying to be ahead of the game and there are things that are ongoing. There are no shortage of players we are being recommended and there are DVDs piled high on my desk. [LNB]'I cannot possibly watch everything and I have got to try and sort out the wheat from the chaff and try to shorten the list. [LNB]'We are down the road with one or two, and have had some targets for some time, but I've not made my mind up on everything yet.'[LNB]McLeish also has to sort out the future of several current players including Sebastian Larsson, Liam Ridgewell, Lee Carsley, Gary McSheffrey, Maik Taylor and Kevin Phillips.
