Blues sweating on Stephen Gleeson and Shane Lowry

Birmingham hope to have Stephen Gleeson and Shane Lowry back in contention for the visit of MK Dons.

Both players missed the Boxing Day defeat to Sheffield Wednesday through illness and midfielder Gleeson will be particularly keen to feature against his former club.

Clayton Donaldson returned from injury as a second-half substitute at Hillsborough and there is a good chance the striker could start on Monday.

Winger David Cotterill has recovered from his recent knee injury but is now nursing a hamstring problem and he is likely to remain on the sidelines.

The Dons will check on Diego Poyet after the on-loan West Ham midfielder sustained an injury in training.

Milton Keynes manager Karl Robinson will once again rotate his midfield and attacking players, with Carl Baker, Dean Bowditch, Sam Gallagher and Daniel Powell all vying for recalls.

Simon Church returned to the bench after injury against Cardiff and the striker is likely to be named amongst the substitutes again.

Defenders Joe Walsh (knee) and Matt Upson (calf) are still not ready for first-team consideration as the Dons look for successive Championship wins for the first time.
