Mullins must sit out Eagles clash

Birmingham are without the suspended Hayden Mullins for the visit of Crystal Palace.

The midfielder is forced to sit out one game after picking up a fifth yellow card of the campaign during the 1-0 defeat against rivals Wolves last weekend.

Midfielder Papa Bouba Diop is among those pushing to replace Mullins after impressing for the club's Under-21 side in recent weeks.

Defender Jonathan Spector is out with an ankle injury, while midfielder Darren Ambrose misses the chance to face his former club as he is still sidelined with a knee injury.

But boss Lee Clark is expected to have Pablo Ibanez and Nikola Zigic available, after the pair returned to training following injury.

Full-backs David Murphy and Stephen Carr (both knee) are long-term absentees while striker Akwasi Asante (hamstring) remains sidelined.

Crystal Palace will travel without stand-in skipper Mile Jedinak.

The Australian midfielder collected his fifth booking of the season in last weekend's 2-2 draw against Blackpool and therefore serves a one-match suspension.

Jonathan Williams is back in training after a groin injury and would be a potential replacement, but he is not expected to be in contention for a couple of weeks.

Andre Moritz, Stuart O'Keefe and David Wright are other options to step into midfield for boss Ian Holloway.

Defender Joel Ward could return to the starting line-up after he missed out against the Seasiders through illness.

Club captain Paddy McCarthy remains on the sidelines with the groin injury which has kept him out all season.
