Thorpe back at Blues

Tom Thorpe will hope to make it second time lucky in Birmingham's home clash with Bournemouth.

The young centre-back could only manage 14 minutes on his Blues debut at the start of February but has recovered from his ankle injury and rejoined on loan from Manchester United on Thursday.

Emyr Huws is a doubt with the hip problem which forced him to miss the midweek victory over Millwall, while Lee Novak (knock) could also miss out once more.

The 3-2 win at the Den ended Birmingham's five-match winless run and moved them eight points clear of the drop zone.

Bournemouth are confident that Andrew Surman will be fit to feature.

The Norwich loanee, who has started all but one of their last 14 games, picked up a knock in the emphatic win over Leeds on Tuesday night and was replaced by Eunan O'Kane in the 54th minute to avoid any further damage.

The Cherries will also hand fitness tests to Ryan Fraser (ankle) & Mo Coulibaly (glute) before they make the trip looking to close the gap on the play-offs.

Eddie Howe, who signed a new contract with the club on Tuesday, will be tempted to name the same XI that thrashed United 4-1 with Yann Kermorgant and Lewis Grabban set to start upfront once more having both netted twice.
