Diego Fabbrini misses out for Birmingham

Birmingham midfielder Diego Fabbrini has been granted compassionate leave by the club.

Blues have allowed him time off due to a "family matter" and while he will miss the visit of Barnsley it is unclear when he will return.

Jacques Maghoma is a doubt with illness but Stephen Gleeson should return to face the Tykes.

Jonathan Spector remains banned after being sent off in Birmingham's 1-0 win over Bristol City late last month.

Barnsley will be without suspended striker Marley Watkins following his straight red card in last week's home defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Watkins sits out the first game of a three-match ban so Tom Bradshaw will be in contention for his first start since September.

Reds boss Paul Heckingbottom has hinted he could make changes as his side chase their first league win in five matches, with Sam Morsy, Saidy Janko and Ryan Kent all pushing for recalls.

Defender Aidy White (glute) remains a long-term absentee following surgery.
