Birmingham City have made an ambitious bid to sign former Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira from Inter Milan. City held talks with Vieira's representatives but the Frenchman was not keen on a switch to the Midlands. Birmingham chairman David Gold insists the move for Vieira is not yet dead but conceded it remains a long-shot for the newly-promoted club. Gold says such a signing would be on a par with bringing France striker Christophe Dugarry to St Andrew's six years ago. He said: 'We have pulled  rabbits out of the hat before and we wantto do it again, but  you can't do these things unless you try. 'People would see Vieira as the second Dugarry if he came to Birmingham. Even now it's not impossible but the odds aren't good, we maybe only have a one in 10 chance.' Vieira, who is available on a free transfer, plans to meet with Inter boss Jose Mourinho to discuss his future at the San Siro. But the 33-year-old wants regular football ahead of the World Cupand would favour a move back to France. He has been linked with Paris St Germain. 'I have to meet with the Inter officials to understand what they intend to do with me,' he told Le Parisien. 'As far as I am concerned, I just want to play, at Inter or elsewhere. I also have to see Mourinho to understand whether I am part of his plans or not. If that's not the case, I'd prefer playing in Ligue 1.'
