Birmingham City clinch £400,000 deal for Spartak Moscow captain Martin Jiranek

Birmingham have completed the signing of Spartak Moscow captain Martin Jiranek for £400,000 on a one-year deal.[LNB]The Czech Republic defender, who has 31 international caps, cost Spartak £4.7million in 2004.[LNB]Birmingham boss Alex McLeish said Jiranek's arrival would create competition for places at St Andrews.[LNB] Done deal: Martin Jiranek (right) will create competition for places at Birmingham[LNB]He said: 'We are short at the back with regards to defensive cover.
