Benitez focused on task at hand

Christian Benitez insists he is enjoying his time at Birmingham but is only thinking about the present and not what the future holds. The Ecuador international striker arrived at St Andrew's in the summer from Mexican side Santos Laguna, initially on loan after a knee problem discovered during his medical meant the deal was renegotiated. But Blues have the option to make his switch permanent at the end of the campaign in a club-record transfer potentially worth just under £8million. Benitez said: "I'm only thinking about the present, I can't think about the future. I'm here playing for Birmingham and that's what I want to do and that's what I'm concentrating on, to give my best. "I've settled in very well, I know it's the best league in the world and I'm very happy to be here. It took me a while to get established but now I think I'm making some progress and I want to do everything I can to do my best for the club." When quizzed about his nickname, a coy Benitez refused to give much away. He said: "They've called me Chucho since I was a little boy. Everybody asks me why but it's a secret. When I arrived in Mexico they kept asking the same thing but I'm not going to say."
