Belief will see Blues through - Boss

With Blues currently second to Wolves on 71 points and Reading, plus a host of other promotion contenders, chasing hard for an automatic promotion place, it is extremely tight at the top. Stoke secured second spot last season with 79 points while Blues (86), Sheffield United (90), Wigan (87) and West Brom (86) all took the honours respectively in the previous seasons. The Midlands outfit have started to string some much-needed results together of late but McLeish also knows confidence, and not complacency, is key at this stage of the season. "I think it's been about getting them (the fans) to believe, and getting our boys to believe," he told the Birmingham Mail. "There's got to be a big injection of belief after last Saturday, a big injection of mental toughness after the wee spell we've come through, despite getting a bit of criticism, hearing that the fans weren't with us." He added: "But the players cannot, at all, switch off or lower their gear. They have got to be in top gear all the time."
