Guti quits Besiktas
Former Real Madrid midfielder Jose Maria Gutierrez Hernandez, known popularly as Guti, has quit Besiktas, the Turkish first division club announced Tuesday.
Quoted by press agency Anatolia, the club said in a statement to the Turkish stock exchange it would pay Guti 1.4 million euros for his services so far this season.
Guti, 35, signed a two-year deal with Besiktas in July 2010 with an annual salary of 2.7 million euros per season.
Anatolia announced Guti's departure on Monday and the start of negotiations leading to a final financial settlement.
Guti, a former Spanish international, spent his entire career with Real Madrid before playing for Besiktas.
