Borderers wait on Turner deal

Berwick hope to complete the signing of midfielder Lewis Turner in time for their first-round Scottish Communities League Cup tie against Cowdenbeath at Shielfield.

The Borderers also hope to have Dougie Brydon available after injury, but a knee problem keeps Devon Jacobs out and Neil Janczyk (leg) also remains sidelined.

Shielfield boss Ian Little said: "A repeat of last weekend's win over Livingston would be a terrific result.

"We worked hard for that win rather than playing exceptionally well, so we have to work to that same level again.

"Cowdenbeath will be out make up for losing to Dunfermline last week, so we need to work hard."

Cowdenbeath have added former Rangers, St Mirren and Scotland Under-21 goalkeeper Grant Adam to their ranks and he will join up with the rest of player/manager Colin Cameron's squad.

The Blue Brazil's midfield is short of bodies as Jamie Stevenson and Lewis Milne are both banned and recent signing Nat Wedderburn is doubtful with a shoulder injury, so 40-year-old Cameron is set to don his boots to help out.

Cameron said: "Berwick will fancy their chances against us as they defeated Livingston last week and we lost at home to Dunfermline.

"We want a win to get our season started."
