Montrose win road trip

Montrose won their first away game of the season after beating Berwick 2-1.

Sean Pierce's penalty gave the visitors victory in a bad-tempered match in which both sides had a man sent off.

Berwick midfielder Frazer MacLean headed wide early on, but made amends when his finish from close range put the Borderers in front after 11 minutes.

But they were pegged back 10 minutes later when Jamie Winter unleashed a terrific strike from 30 yards to stun the home side.

Darren Gibbon and Lee Currie both went close for Berwick while Steven McNalley shot wide for Montrose.

The game erupted in the 80th minute when Chris Townsley's professional foul on Pierce saw him sent off, and Pierce converted from the spot.

Montrose's Terry Mason was then shown a second yellow card but Berwick could not find an equaliser.
