Currie converts in Berwick win

Lee Currie's first league goal since December kept Berwick in play-off contention with a 1-0 home win against Stirling at Shielfield Park.

Fraser McLaren's 25-yard volley forced Samuel Filler into a fourth-minute save as Berwick flew out of the traps.

Filler's opposite number Marc McCallum also needed to be alert just six minutes later to parry Phillip Johnston's right-footed effort around the post.

Currie was presented with a golden opportunity to break the deadlock after James Bishop upended Scott Dalziel inside the area, but Filler was again at his best to keep out the spot kick.

McLaren struck the post deep into the second half as Ian Little's men looked like they would be made to settle for a draw.

That was before Currie stepped up to smash in a 25-yard free-kick three minutes before the end.
