Peterhead edge closer to play-offs

Peterhead moved to within two points of the play-off places after a 2-0 win against promotion rivals Berwick at Shielfield Park.

Chances were at a premium in a poor first half with neither side able to create many genuine opportunities.

James Redman came closest to an opening goal for the visitors just before the half-hour mark but could not beat goalkeeper Marc McCallum with a weak header.

The hosts best chance fell to Steven Notman moments later and he was unlucky to see his effort come back off the bar.

The Blue Toon broke the deadlock six minutes after the restart when Ryan McCann finished from close range after some good work by Rory McAllister.

McAllister ensured all three points when he latched onto Martin Bavidge's pass before dispatching a neat finish past McCallum six minutes from time.
