Annan pegged back by Borderers

Annan failed to close the gap on the play-off places following their 1-1 draw with 10-man Berwick at Galabank.

The hosts took the lead in the 24th minute when Aaron Muirhead scored from the spot after Lee Currie brought down Graeme Bell in the area.

And the visitors faced an uphill challenge five minutes after the break when Chris Townsley was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Jack Steel came close to a second just before the hour-mark, his effort narrowly missing the post as the Borderers struggled to gain a foothold in the match.

But they did level things up in the 72nd minute as Jordon Forster netted from close range after Alex Mitchell could only parry Kevin McDonald's original effort.

And Berwick looked to have snatched all three points in the closing stages only for Conner McGlinchey's long range drive to cannon back off the bar.
