Belarus manager Bernd Stange will step down from his post after the end of the 2012 European Championship qualifiers, the head of the country's football federation Sergei Rumas said Friday.

Belarus are to play their last Group D qualifier on Friday at Bucharest but Stange is likely to coach the squad in a friendly match with Euro-2012 co-hosts Poland in Germany on Tuesday, October 11.

Stange took over Belarus in July 2007 and has since taken the team to their best ever position in FIFA's rankings (36 place in February 2011).

However, the 63-year-old German failed to lead the Belarus national side into any major football tournaments.
